Corrals & Posses

Westerners International Active Corrals

A Corral or Posse is the name commonly used for our groups and most meet monthly, with maybe a month or two off at holidays or in the summertime. Some groups publish newsletters or magazines, some take field trips, and some hire speakers or invite their own members for presenations.

Each Corral or Posse is an independent group, operating by its own rules and bylaws, but remaining part of the larger national and international Westerners. Elected officers include:

Sheriff – who does what presidents do
Deputy Sheriff – which larger corrals will elect so that the president gets a break
Ink Slinger or Editor – for any publications that might develop
Recorder of Marks and Brands – who does what secretaries do
Keeper of the Chips – keeps the budget, pays the bills, pays dues
Representative – Corral/Posee re for contacts with other corrals. Receives the annual dues, awards, and contact sheet packets from the Home Ranch

Not everyone can live near an active Corral or Posse. So if you – or someone you know – might like to join Westerners International and he or she doesn’t have a nearby Westerners Corral/Posse, please contact us at the Home Ranch. We’ll be glad to lend a hand! westernerners@wtamu.edu
